Blogging gets a bad rap. It’s often viewed as a hobby moms pick up to keep themselves from going nuts. And while that may be partially true, blogging has a much more important purpose. So today, we’re doing a deep dive into the one reason to start a blog.
If you’re an entrepreneur or if you want to be an entrepreneur, you need to start a blog. It doesn’t matter whether you write books or you freelance write for other people. Your business could be graphic design or coaching. You may be a bookkeeper or an accountant.
Inventors, naturopaths, healers, artists, consultants, social media experts, and wannabees. You all need a blog.
A client needs to know, like, and trust you before they buy from you
The one reason you need is to make more money as an entrepreneur. People need to know who you are and like who they see. Plus, (and this is important) they need to view you as an expert in your industry and TRUST you. All this happens before they buy from you.

A blog maintains your leads
The one reason you need a blog is that people don’t answer their phones anymore, especially if they don’t know the person calling.
You need to start a blog because it’s the best way to get your message in front of your potential customer.
You can use the blog to develop that know, like, trust factor without ever ‘talking’ to your clients. But even without hearing your voice, people will share your content, recommend your products, and buy from you over and over again.
A blog gives you the ability to define your client
When you have a blog, you don’t just publish content for everyone. Very few (successful) entrepreneurs have a target market of ‘everyone.’
You need to define your client and publish content that those specific people want to see. When you blog, you’re marketing. You’re producing content that speaks right to the needs of your client. You’re letting them get to know and like you via regular emails and you’re establishing yourself as an expert with highly targeted blog posts.
A blog generates the majority of your sales
Not only do you have a blog but you also have a list of people who love you. Your blog, when done well, will generate a list of email addresses from people who like what you have to say. You’ll email those people regularly to update them on blog posts and the various parts of your life or business. They’ll get to know you.
As you create more high-quality free content for your blog, you’ll also start to be seen as an expert in your field, which will create trust in you and your capabilities.
Whenever you develop a new paid product or service, this list of people will already know you, like you, and trust you. They are your people, and they will be more likely to buy from you and recommend you than any other group of people.
You need a blog not a social media account.
The one reason you need a blog is that it becomes the virtual hub for your customers to interact with you and build a relationship with you and your services/products. Sure, you’ll still have social media accounts, but you’ll purchase your own hosting package and your own domain; this blog is yours.
Unlike social media platforms, your blog doesn’t have algorithms that will change unless you create them. Your emails will always go to your subscribers (unless than unsubscribe) and you don’t have to pay for ads to reach your customers. You can email them directly.
The blog is yours and you can use it however you like for as long as you want to build whatever business you dare.
One more thing…
You need to start a blog because buying anything online—from a baby blanket on Etsy to $2000 online course— is still a bit hit or miss. To feel confident in their purchases, people want to know the person behind the product or service.
When done right, your blog can do all of that and more.
Your potential customers want a way to verify that they can trust you and that you know what you’re talking about (or at least know more than they do) and can help them solve whatever problem they’re facing.
